The Social Democrat's (SPD) election candidate, former European parliament president Martin Schulz, vowed earlier on Tuesday that his party would force a vote on the issue before the end of the week.But a report in the Süddeustche Zeitung poured cold water on the idea that the vote would come so quickly.
The Christian Democrats (CDU) are preparing for a vote on gay marriage on Friday, insiders told DPA on Tuesday.
Volker Kauder, leader of the CDU in the Bundestag, urged MPs to turn up for the vote in as large a number as possible.
He also told those who oppose gay marriage to be respectful towards their colleagues who see the matter differently.
“It’s no coincidence that the world’s most exciting cities have a strong LGBT community, contributing much to the dynamism, openness and prosperity which defines locations such as Madrid, Amsterdam and Berlin”, states Ömer Kücükdere, Managing Director of Nestpick.
